From D-10 to a Job: Getting Hired on E-7
How to turn a D-10 job-seeking visa into an E-7 work visa: finding a qualifying employer, sponsorship, and the change-of-status process.
The whole point of a D-10 is to land a job and move onto a work visa. Here's how to convert your job-seeking time into an E-7.

Step 1 — Target qualifying roles
Not every job leads to an E-7. Aim for roles that map to an approved E-7 occupation code and fit your credentials.
Step 2 — Confirm the employer can sponsor
A qualifying employer is a registered company offering a role at a salary meeting the guideline, able to provide sponsorship documents.
Step 3 — Change status (usually in Korea)
With the offer in hand:
- Confirm the occupation-code fit.
- Prepare your + employer documents.
- File the change of status before your D-10 expires.
If the search runs long
You may extend the D-10 with evidence of genuine job-seeking, up to its limit. Don't let it lapse.
Common pitfalls
- Accepting a role that doesn't match a code.
- A salary below guideline.
- Missing the timing and creating a status gap.
